Research Partners.
We collaborate with independent waterproofing and foundation specialists who contribute anonymized field observations to the Healthy Basement Society research program. Every partner operates under a strict data-handling agreement and our published research-ethics protocol.

01Overview
Independent regional specialists see thousands of basements every year. Their structured field observations — building era, foundation type, observed moisture pattern, regional climate factors — are an invaluable complement to homeowner-survey data when properly anonymized and aggregated. The Healthy Basement Society works with a small, vetted network of these specialists across the United States, with concentration in the Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic regions where pre-1980 housing stock and seasonal precipitation patterns produce the most research-relevant signal.
Partners contribute non-identifying observation summaries on a voluntary basis. In exchange, partners receive early access to aggregated regional findings, methodology documentation, and the ability to cite participation in HBS research in their own materials, subject to the citation guidelines in Terms of Use.
02How partnerships work
- Application & vetting. Prospective partners submit a partnership application via our contact form. HBS reviews business credentials, licensing, complaint history, and adherence to applicable consumer-protection rules.
- Data-handling agreement. Approved partners sign a Partner Data Handling Agreement (PDHA) governing what may and may not be shared, anonymization standards, and prohibited uses.
- Onboarding. Partner field staff complete a short training on the HBS observation schema and consent boundaries.
- Contribution. Partners submit periodic anonymized observation summaries via a structured intake form. No homeowner names, addresses, phone numbers, or photographs are ever transmitted.
- Aggregation & publication. Contributions are aggregated with study-survey data at the county or ZIP level (minimum n=10) before any public release.
- Annual review. Each partnership is reviewed annually by the HBS advisory board for continued alignment with research-ethics standards.
03Active partners
The following partner is currently engaged with HBS under an executed Partner Data Handling Agreement.

Everdry Waterproofing
ActiveBasement-waterproofing specialist serving residential foundations across Michigan and Indiana. Engaged with HBS on the 2026 research program covering basement moisture and foundation-health patterns in their service area.
04Expanding the network
HBS is in the process of building partnerships with additional independent waterproofing and foundation-services firms across the United States, with the goal of broadening coverage across additional ZIP codes, postal codes, and counties. We are not publishing names of prospective partners until each firm has signed a Partner Data Handling Agreement and completed onboarding — at which point they will be added to the Active partners section above.
If your firm operates in a region not yet represented and meets the standards in the next section, we would like to hear from you.
05Partner standards
Every HBS research partner must meet, at minimum, the following baseline standards before onboarding and on a continuing basis:
- valid state licensure for residential waterproofing or foundation services in every jurisdiction of operation;
- no unresolved consumer-protection actions in the trailing thirty-six (36) months;
- documented adherence to applicable Telephone Consumer Protection Act and state Do-Not-Call rules in their own outbound communications;
- a designated compliance contact responsible for partner-side data handling;
- execution of the HBS Partner Data Handling Agreement governing scope, anonymization, and prohibited uses;
- completion of HBS observation-schema training by all field staff submitting contributions.
HBS retains the right to suspend or terminate any partnership at any time, with or without cause, and to require deletion of any HBS-shared materials upon termination. Termination of a partnership is publicly disclosed in the next quarterly transparency report.
06Apply to partner
If your firm meets the partner standards above and you are interested in contributing anonymized field observations to HBS research, we would like to hear from you. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed quarterly by the HBS advisory board.
